Dear Prayer Partners,

~My teaching at the Bible School went very well!

~Jeff was in Ketou (kay-too), mid-western Benin, over the weekend and had a good ministry there.

~Currently Larry and Edwina Rowell are leading a team from Campbellsville Baptist Church, Campbellsville, KY, in Burkina Faso.  The men of the team have taught at the Baptist Convention’s Pastor’s School in Koudougou (koo-do-goo), while the women worked with the pastor’s wives and children.  At this moment they are in Kongoussi (kohn-goo-see) in northern Burkina, working alongside the Baptist church in prayer walking.  They will be traveling back toward the USA on the 9th and 10th.

~Jeff will be in Togo Thursday and Friday for meetings with the Togo Baptist Convention.

Volunteers:

As our job has expanded to four Francophone West African countries, we will be searching for volunteers to work hand-in-hand with our Baptist partners in Benin, Togo, Burkina Faso and Cote d’Ivoire to aid with evangelism-church planting and teaching in Bible schools and the seminary.  If you are looking for a place to serve, we’ve got suggestions!

Jeff: Fifty Foot Mound of Adoration Garbage

Jeff spoke to a gathering of 4 churches in the Ketou area (Nago People) and encouraged, Elijah, the Benin Baptist Union evangelist, who is working there. In an ancient, savage war in which the Nago were being chased and slaughtered, their king buried himself in the dirt near his palace.  Later, survivors searched for the king in vain, but only discovered his chain in the ground.  They attempted to remove it, but not a person could extract it from the earth’s fierce grip.  Amazed and concerned the people sought out the Fa, (a medium for the gods) who conversed with the king’s spirit and let it be known that to be blessed the people were to pile garbage on the site.  And to this day they do.  Standing and stinking near  the king’s palace is a 40-50 foot tall mound of garbage that serves, also, as the local outhouse.  When the mound begins to shrink, word is sent out to the people to gather garbage from all corners of the village to pile it on top of the king.  Those who seek healing from wounds are said to rub the dirt from around this mound in their cuts and they are healed.  Satan revealed his true nature in this mess!  The Nago people need Jesus—and to be freed from their garbage!

Barbara:  New Births in Christ

Each day last week I drove through amazingly terrible traffic, packed with swirling motorcyclists making up their own laws as they puttered along and through God’s grace, arrived daily at my destination.  The classroom was a three walled room, actually probably intended to be a garage.  The students were young men and women from Cote d’Ivoire and Togo who were following a three month course of study followed by 3 months of evangelism/missions practical application.  I was the last of the three months of teaching.  I was quite nervous the first day for I’d never taught in French, for about 3 hours a day and those coming from Cote d’Ivoire have quite a high level of French!  God blessed.  His anointing was present.  We applied principles learned and went prayer walking coupled with evangelism.  A rough estimate would indicate that over 25 people came to Christ in the area around their Bible School—which gives the students the opportunity to continue relationships that were created.  I praise God for your prayers and am excited to take the teachings God gave me to share with the students further into Benin, as well as to Togo, Cote d’Ivoire and Burkina Faso.

In His love,

Barbara
