Dear Prayer Partners,
~Pray for the Benin Baptist Convention's General Assembly, that God would grant them clarity of vision and empower them to reach the rest of Benin for
Christ!
~Pray for Jeff's return to the USA, leaving on Sunday, and that during the Summit God would call many churches to engage unreached people groups
across West Africa and to create partnerships with conventions to go into the vast lostness surrounding us.
~Pray that many more individuals and churches will engage themselves in West Africa due to the Summit!
We arrived home on Tuesday afternoon from our nearly three week trip through Togo, Ghana and Burkina Faso. Praise God our vehicle made it here without trouble! Now we've been told the broken fuel pump had been replaced by one that did not correspond with our car's engine, therefore the reason for the lack of acceleration and slower travel speeds. Four countries, four mechanics and possibly now a solution! Thank you for praying us home.
Although quite fatigued from travel, we have quickly jumped into preparations for Jeff's departure on Sunday night for the West African Summit in Greenville, South Carolina, April 1-5. He will be gone for two weeks.
Tonight starts an awesome event. The Benin Baptist Convention, after months of analyzing its present situation of having a structure with little support from its associations, and after having invited all the Benin pastors to a general meeting of open discussion about the future of the convention, is now holding a national general assembly. This had earlier been cancelled. But now, with renewed interest on the part of the churches, the general assembly will be held through Friday. A reorganization of the convention will be discussed and possibly a temporary executive committee put in place to oversee the changes.
If you note the schedule I sent you earlier, this general assembly was not planned then--therefore the Benin think tank that was to be held will no longer be held at this time.
I'm working on many things to share with you concerning our recent trip. Stay tuned! Pictures and stories are coming!
