Dear Ayizo and Beyond
Prayer Partners,
This week new developments
have occurred in Ouega (way-gah).
Ouega is where the
population came to the church and said they didn't want any churches in the
village and forced the doors closed. Two months later, after trying to
calm the situation through proper channels, with no progress, the lay leader
said, "We will reopen the church next Sunday. If they destroy the church;
they destroy the church. If they kill us; they kill us." Through
your prayers and the prayers of the people here in Benin, the church reopened
without incident. But, before they celebrated their second Sunday
after reopening, the villages' government officials posted a sign before the
church indicating that the church was illegally built on land for which they
hadn't paid. Of course this isn't true, but the accusation is serious and
will be difficult to clear up due to the officials' predisposition against the
church. This is another attack in an attempt to permanently close up the
church.
Today will be the
third Sunday since the reopening of the church in Ouega.
~Pray for God's
power to be evident, for people to be drawn to Christ; and that the spirits
of darkness
be broken over all the inhabitants of the Ouega
area.
Kari and I will go there
this morning for our Sunday service. We hope to encourage the struggling
believers.
Jeff will be sharing a
testimony this morning before the congregation at Westside Baptist Church,
Gainesville, Florida during their Mission's Conference and speaking to two
Sunday schools.
~Pray that God will
mightily use Jeff to impact lives toward a deeper commitment to Jesus
Christ.
Love in
Christ,
Barbara and
Kari
