We traveled to Burkina Faso nearly one week ago to attend meetings
with
association and Baptist convention leaders--to get to know them so that
we
can inspire them, train them and aid them in reaching the unreached in
their
countries!
We just returned from our trip to Bobo, here in
Burkina, over the weekend.
If you look at a map of Burkina you could find it
(it is the second largest
city in Burkina) in the Southwest. It was
very cool--lots of rain. It was
about 4 hours from Ouagadougou.
There is an ancient mosque there and some
people who live on top of high
granite hills that we visited. The ascent to
the village was very
steep, very rocky and quite dangerous, actually, but
fascinating. Kari
decided that she would like to live there as a
missionary. Jeff taught on
Saturday afternoon to a group of men/women from
local association of Baptist
Churches; preached Sunday am., and spoke again
that afternoon to the
association (about 50 present). We stayed in a
Christian Missionary
Alliance Guest house and the CMA couple next door were
great--homeschooling 5
kids! They had 10th grade twin boys that Kari hit it
off with really
well. She stayed with that family as much as she could!
She and the
boys have had the same teachers with the ABEKA videos and they
had a blast
talking about their teachers...
At one of the meetings we were asked how
we've worked in Benin among the
Voodoo people to share Christ with
them! What a great question--and
exciting to answer. I was able
to share for a few minutes about the prayer
effort and evangelism effort by
our women in Benin to touch a village for
Christ! What an encouraging
word that was to the Burkina Baptist Women
leaders present!
Continue
to pray that God will cast a mighty vision into the hearts of
the
associations and conventions of Burkina Faso, Benin, Togo and Cote
d'Ivoire
that they might see the awesome need of everyone in their countries
to come
to Christ and to realize they can step out and share Christ with what
God
has already given them.
Love,
Barbara, Jeff and
Kari
