Joshua Ortega, from Kettering FBC, in Kettering, Ohio, is coming in to work with us before the rest of the medical team arrives on October 2. He will be leaving the States sometime today to arrive here tomorrow night (Wednesday, 20th). Please pray for his journey.

When we first arrived in Benin I became close friends with a woman named Josephine. She would come to my house selling vegetables three times a week from a platter on her head with a baby on her back. I couldn't speak any Fon and she couldn't speak any French. But we knew that if we could talk we would become friends. And, as God enabled me to speak Fon, we did become very close--she gave her life to Christ and we even held a Bible study for a time from her home. Then she moved into the bush to a place very difficult to find.

Yesterday she stopped by our home, just having realized we are back in the country. While we were in the States she received help from some local Christians to build a bamboo structure in hopes of starting a church in her village. People have been meeting there for prayer. She came to us to beg us to please come to work with them! So, Friday morning, with Joshua and Kari, we will meet her at a local market, then go into the bush to see what the situation is.
